  there have been a lot of threads regarding changes in donations, kingdom hall ownership etc.

  and what it all means.

  i'm about to put on my accounting hat on and seriously consider the what it all means part (and why they may be doing it).

  You said, "Congregations that had already paid off their mortgage are expected to pledge an amount roughly equal to what their mortgage would be if they had one" which is inaccurate.

  Congregations which do NOT currently repay a loan, simply have to carry out an anonymous Financial Survey to establish how much each Witness househould would be willing to donate each month to the new KH financing idea.

  this has come up before but we ran in to an old guy from the hall over the weekend and he confirmed a few things about the change of edmonton venue this year.

  i'd mentioned this old fellow, too.

  a rare friend from the kingdom hall, a real character, and i genuinely miss him.

  DATA-DOG, I bow to your sagacity - amended as suggested!!

  Let your reasonableness become known to all men - even those who try to avoid/subvert/pervert the truth!

  This is the Org I'm still "associated" with, albeit very tenuously now!!

  I guess a very good reason is that Witnesses cannot be warned to avoid WikiPedia, because it's not regarded as an "apostate" site. Especially with all those lovely images of Kingdom Halls (real estate investments) featured!

  2) If a congregation DID have a loan from the Organization, the loan would now be cancelled and they would not need to carry out a Financial Survey, but rather, would be expected to DONATE the same amount of money as the loan repayment amount, if not more!

  Only the FIRST page was to be read to the congregations, as the other 3 pages were confidential and for the eyes of Elders only!".

  Just who is an employer and employee in the many corporations listed under the banner of jehovahs witnesses as distinct from volunteers.Who gets a salary.

  this thought occured to me while reflecting on comments made by the organisation that jw`s should not state they are representatives of the wtb&ts , because in reality they are not employed by the organisation , they are merely volunteers as jehovahs witnesses .. so i`m thinking not only the rank & file jw is not employed , neither are elders , ms , pioneers etc.of a congregation .

  they are all only volunteers who have no comeback on the society for any reason whatsoever , financial or otherwise .. what about co`s , do`s etc.

  are they paid employees of the wtb&ts ?

  The given and accepted version is that NO ONE in the Org receives a a salary - they are ALL volunteers who are given a monthly allowance to help provide them with their basic necessities. Room and board is provided free.

  i was speaking with my brother who lives in the nyc area.

  his congregation is assigned to the convention at metlife (pro football stadium) in nj.

  his congregation is hosting delegates.

  The Glorious Ones at the top of the pyramid (as well as the ones lower down) have really missed the boat regarding Kingdom Halls.

  They could have been very instrumental for bonding congregations socially - especially for younger ones who will readily go elsewhere for entertainment.

  As it is, any congregation social event has to take place in a RENTED hall (money wasted!!) somewhere locally.

  G.B. - did you take note???? Money......revenue........income???
